Stuff and things

What I've been up to the past couple of weeks.

November 04, 2025

Welcome to this new... publication... I guess. It'll be a place for random musings that you can't find at my other outlets, and also updates of what I've been doing.

You can subscribe, or not. Either way works for me.

Chad around town

Over the past few weeks, I've had a few stories published that I think are worth your time to read.

I attended GM's investor-like tech day in New York City, and talked to GM's Dave Richardson about AI in cars, personal data, and other enshittification topics for Ars Technica. The funny thing is, around a week later Dave departed from General Motors!

Yesterday, I published a quick story on The Kirchner Report after running a vehicle history report on a Jeep Wagoneer that ICE or Customs and Border Patrol used to ram an innocent American citizen who was not indicted on any crime.

As it turns out, these vehicles are coming from rental car companies. Which ones? I wouldn't be surprised if it's all of them. I do plan on following up in the future to see if the damage is reported before the rental goes to auction.

Infosec failure

There's a reason why your IT department doesn't want you to use simple passwords, and it's not because they want to be annoying.

the password to the louvre surveillance server was "louvre" www.thesocialpost.it/2025/11/02/f...

according to the liberation newspaper, documents dating back to a 2014 inspection by the French National Agency for the Security of Computer Systems reported a staggering detail: "the password of the louvre's video surveillance server was simply " louvre. "
